In a year of economic turbulence, AI impacts and social media overhauls, how will Americans be getting inspired, spending and approaching travel in the coming months?

RUNNING THE NUMBERS

14% have canceled an upcoming trip due to their looming tariffs and recession concerns. Millennials were revealed to be the most interested in travel. Baby boomers travel the least and spend the least. 44% of respondents have taken a solo vacation.

GETTING INSPIRED

YouTube was the top way respondents source inspiration for where to travel next. Gen Zers named TikTok as their favorite way to get travel inspiration. Nearly one in three respondents use AI to compare flight prices, and the same amount use it for travel recommendations.

MENTAL HEALTH IMPACT

Within the survey, the respondents were asked to self-assess the current state of their mental health, from excellent to very poor. Those with excellent or good mental health were to found to travel more often than those with fair mental health and worse. Those with excellent mental health have traveled internationally more.

Methodology: A random double-opt-in online survey of 2,000 Americans (500 Gen Z, 500 millennials, 500 Gen X, 500 baby boomers) was conducted between May 5 and May 8, 2025.
